About me

Hi, I'm Ishaan. It started with a clicky pen under an exam desk.

I am a school student in India. Care-Ed is what happened when I took my own stress seriously enough to work on it like a design problem, and then asked who else might need what I found.

01Why

Why I started.

I started Care-Ed because, like every other teen, I too was facing mental stress: whether it be studies, losing a cricket game, or just because of a phase.

During those times I found myself fidgeting a lot with things. I rejuvenated my interest in Lego, fiddled around with clicky pens, and kept a pocket action figure to keep me entertained anywhere I went. This fidgeting improved my concentration and my stress, and I wondered: why not make actual fidget toys?

That is when Care-Ed was born. I design 3D-printable fidget toys, with their components and their Python files in case someone else needs them. They are easily printable and each has its own story: the Gyroscopic Spinner because I was reading the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga and saw a character named Gyro use spin to throw his steel balls; the Clicker because I just loved clicky things; the FlexLink because I felt I could morph it into anything I wanted.

I have volunteered for institutions and mental health fundraising events through Care-Ed and hope to continue doing so.

02What I believe

A fidget is a small mechanism for a large feeling.

The idea behind everything I make is simple. Stress shows up in the hands before it shows up in words. A tool that gives the hands something precise to do, a click with a definite bottom, a dial with twelve stops, a chain that holds its pose, buys a moment of attention. That moment is often enough to get back to the page.

Three rules follow. One action per tool, because a tool that does everything is a toy that does nothing. Quiet by default, because most of my stress happened in a classroom. Free to make, because the student who needs it most is not the one who can order it.

The helpline, the podcast and the sports sessions come from the same place. A fidget helps in the moment; the line is for what is behind the moment; the conversations and the games are for everything around it. All of it is about being taken seriously.

The four parts of Care-Ed

03What I learned

Two years of skills, by accident.

None of this was the point, but all of it happened.

  • Blender

Modelling organic shells and precise mechanical parts; animating assemblies with keyframes.

  • Python

Scripts that build each design from primitives with bpy, so the logic of a mechanism is readable as code.

  • 3D printing

Tolerances, clearances, press fits, and why a 0.2 mm change decides whether a rotor spins.

  • Listening

Running a helpline and a podcast: hearing someone out, keeping it confidential, asking better questions, then acting.
